Sveinsdóttir’s work straddles the border between visual art and classical opera compositions, through the usage of the voice as a dominant medium. She brings present-day visual imagery to understanding through strong social contrasts. Dealing with systematic control, the distribution of power, and body labor, her works often refer to political issues in society through popular culture. Sigrún has participated in a number of performance and opera projects by herself and others, mostly in Reykjavík and Amsterdam, where she is now based.
